Heart by sandeep jauhar6/26/2023 South Asians make up a quarter of the world's population, but a whopping 60% of all heart disease patients, and South Asian Americans tend to develop high blood pressure, abnormal cholesterol, and triglycerides, a type of fat in the blood that increases the risk for heart attacks, at lower body weights compared to other ethnicities. South Asians, including people of Indian, Pakistani, Bangladeshi, Nepali, and Sri Lankan descent, are all at a higher risk for heart disease - and researchers don't know why. My Name Is Rapunzel by K.C. Hilton6/26/2023 Zel and Mother live in an isolated alm with only each other and animals for company except for the two times a year they go to the market in town. Napoli begins her story during this point and shows the events leading up to Mother locking Zel away in the tower. While both the Grimm and the de la Force versions say that the witch/fairy raises Rapunzel/Persinette outside the tower until she is twelve, they do not give any details. She begins the story by establishing the relationship between Rapunzel, nicknamed Zel, and Mother. Napoli mainly draws on the German version of the tale by the Brothers Grimm, which itself heavily draws from the French “Persinette” written by Charlotte-Rose de Caumont de la Force. Sorry! My Rating: 4 stars Warning: Contains spoilers As a Retelling: The kindle edition doesn’t have a cover photo for who knows what reason, and the lighting conditions weren’t ideal. Side note: Please excuse the rather horrendous picture. Ultimately I just bought the ebook because it seemed that the library copy was never going to come. Welcome back to Fairy Tale Friday! Today, by popular vote, we’re looking at the feature’s first retelling of “Rapunzel.” Sorry it’s so much later than I thought! As I said in my previous post, there was an issue with the library.

Her intricate, hand-drawn illustrations are loved the world over by those who have colored in (sometimes more than once) her bestselling books Johanna's Christmas, Magical Jungle, Lost Ocean, Secret Garden, and Enchanted Forest. This is a fun girls’ night out activity to do with your friends or for those new to Greenville to use to meet others and make connections. Johanna Basford is an illustrator and ink evangelist who prefers pens and pencils to pixels. Fiction Addiction has hosted two Coloring, Cocktails, and Conversation events and will be holding our third on Thursday, January 21st at 7pm. 4 hours ago &0183 &32 Here are the latest developments. If you prefer coloring with pens or markers or if you wish to frame your work, make sure to purchase the “Artist’s Edition” of Johanna’s first book since it has only one design per page so it doesn’t matter if the ink bleeds through to the other side.Īdults find coloring appealing for several reasons: the concentration required to color such intricate designs like Johanna’s acts like meditation or yoga and can take colorers away from their everyday worries and into a zenlike trance the creativity involved in selecting and blending colors can refresh or soothe and when finished you can even frame your art and have a custom-colored work that beautifully matches your décor.Ĭoloring can also be a social activity. Some adult colorers use familiar childhood crayons, but most are purchasing artist-quality colored pencils, such as PrismaColor, found at Suburban Paint Co.
